“12 checks carried out on the construction site, no violations”

Florence, 14 June 2024 – TheLocal health authority in central Tuscany «carried out a total of 12 accesses to the construction site area in the various phases of construction» of the Esselunga supermarket in Florence, in via Mariti, Where Five workers died in the collapse on February 16, but “during these checks no violations of the rules on health and safety in the workplace emerged”. The ASL also replies that, in addition to that, no violations emerged during the same checks «the companies of the workers involved in the accident were not present on the construction site» and “the company Go Costruzioni Srl (with the deceased foreign workers) has been under preliminary notification since 26 January 2024, while our last inspection took place on 12 January 2024”. The 12 checks, to verify the construction site in via Mariti which began on 26 July 2021, reports the ASL, were distributed as follows over time: «six accesses during the demolition (from October 2021 to March 2022), one of which concerned the activity of asbestos reclamation; three accesses during the excavation and consolidation phase of the area (from October 2022 to April 2023); access relating only to construction works cast in situ (August 2023); two accesses where cast-in-situ construction works and the assembly of prefabricated elements were underway (October 2023 – January 2024)
