Polls open for the ballot in Potenza

Vincenzo Telesca or Francesco Fanelli. Who will be the next mayor of Potenza? The decision will be made by 56,906 people from Potenza who will be able to go to the polls from today until 3pm tomorrow.

In fact, in the first round none of the five candidates who will compete for the tricolor band of the Lucanian regional capital reached 50% plus one of the preferences, with Fanelli stuck at 40.6, Telesca at 32.4 and with, in order , Smaldone at 17.6, Giuzio at 8.5 and Marino at 1.2.

Declining turnout, as expected, in fact at 12 this morning only 11.5% of those entitled to vote had gone to the polls, just over 6,500 people from Potenza.

Among them at 11 was the candidate Vincenzo Telesca, accompanied by his wife in section six of the polling station in via del Popolo, right in the historic center. The peripheral section 70 of the new seminary instead welcomed Fanelli at 12.30, who expressed his preference there.

Making comparison with the past, also in 2019 the mayor of Potenza was elected following the ballot, with Mario Guarente, representing the centre-right coalition, winning with 50.3% of the votes, against the 49.7% of Valerio Tramutoli, of “Basilicata is possible”, on that occasion the turnout went from 71.71% in the first round to 56.64% in the run-off. Two weeks ago, turnout was 69.12.
