This morning (14 June) the councilor for Territorial Policies, Michele Babuder And Massimo Buiatti, Director of Environmental Services AcegasApsAmga, inaugurated the first of the 27 banks of compacting containers in the city in Piazza Verdi.
“Today we present, together with the manager AcegasApsAmga, the first series of compacting containers in the city, one of the first projects supported with European PNRR funds”, began the councilor for Territorial Policies, Michele Babuder.
“In the following weeks, a further 81 bins will be placed in the historic centre. This is the first of many innovations that will involve citizens and the municipal administration for waste disposal. The objective is to increase separate waste collection and provide a better service”, continued the Councillor.
“The innovations we will carry out in the coming months – he concluded Michele Babuder – they also concern larger elements such as the bins, the technological modernization in Piazza della Borsa and Piazza Sant’Antonio. Lastly, the construction of the new disposal center in Giarizzole, requested by the community for some time, as well as future projects regarding the disposal of oils”.
The Director of Environmental Services AcegasApsAmga, Massimo Buiatti, underlined that the project, which started at the end of 2021, aims to develop separate waste collection in terms of both quality and quantity, bringing it to 60% by 2027.
“The new bins are equipped with an innovative technology that allows waste to be compressed, in this way the internal volume of 125 liters is extended to an equivalent volume of 840 litres: by exploiting the internal compactor, each intelligent bin thus corresponds to 7 bins traditional. Thanks to funding from the PNRR, 3 compacting bins will be installed in each of the 27 stations in the city center by June, for a total of 81 units. The batteries are in fact made up of 3 compacting containers dedicated to the collection of undifferentiated waste, plastic and paper, combined with an additional traditional bin for glass, which will integrate in the coming weeks the equipment foreseen in the original project in order to standardize the ‘full drum aesthetic,” he said Massimo Buiatti.
Technology 4.0 for 27 new batteries
Through the accumulation of solar energy, the baskets will be self-powered and will not require external energy. Clean energy, therefore, and a compaction system that will allow us to reduce the size of the waste delivered and collect larger quantities. The new baskets are always connected and managed in real time through a platform cloudwhich allows you to check the collections made, the level of filling of the bins themselves and to intervene in case of any anomalies.
The new bins will bring numerous benefits both to the quality of life of citizens and to the environment, such as the improvement of public spaces, the absence of waste coming out of the bins, the reduction of bad smells, the better efficiency of collection and recycling rounds consequently the image benefits for tourism.
