Sassari, World Day against desertification and drought in the films of three Sardinian directors

Three Sardinian directors and three films that address the relationship between man and the environment starting from events and places in Sardinia. Monday at 5pm the main hall of the Department of Agriculture of Sassariin viale Italia 39a, hosts thepreview of the 19th edition of the “Thoughts and Words” festival: books and films at Asinara”. The event is part of the World Day against Desertification and Drought. The title of the event is Tramudonzos“changes”, to underline the double meaning of the word, the “passive” one linked to the climate, and the one referring to the positive changes that must be implemented to seize the opportunities of adaptation.

The works. “Tilipirche” is an 18-minute short film by the Cagliari native Francesco Piraswhich tells the essence of a part of Sardinia, that of those who have always lived and survived thanks to the land.

In “S’Ozzastru” Carolina Melis uses the language of animation to “give voice” to a thousand-year-old olive tree, witness to historical events. Finally, in “The Shadow of Fire” by Enrico Pau, the protagonist is the lunar landscape of Montiferru after the 2021 fire, a live testimony of the author who went to those territories to document the devastation and immediately collect the thoughts and emotions of the inhabitants. A documentary film that talks about destruction but also about rebirth.
