Crotone Calcio makes Giuseppe Di Bari’s successor official. Antonio Amodio is the new Sports Director of the Pythagoreans with whom he has signed a two-year agreement. This is how the new DS presented itself to the press and fans today

For the season 2024/25 the Pythagorean sharks entrust the task of DS ad Antonio Amodioborn in Greek’s tower on April 5, 1987 and who has held the position of Giugliano Sports Director.
The DS from Campania was introduced to the press and fans today accompanied by the General Manager Raffaele Vrenna Jr. who opened the conference by thanking the former coach Lamberto Zauli and the former DS From Bari.
On Zauli:
“CWe found ourselves working side by side for more than a year. In addition to being a fantastic person for me, he is a coach who I respect a lot and who has enhanced many players.”
He then continues with words of praise for former DS Beppe Di Bari:
“he is also a fantastic person who has given me so much from a human point of view and who I love so much.”
The DG continues about the future of the rossoblù:
“the future is made by young people! We are a club that has rejuvenated itself in every sense and we really want to demonstrate that we are up to the task and we want to start this season with the right spirit, to bring Crotone back to being loved by everyone and having fun.”
And again:
“I strongly wanted Antonio (Amodio) because a strong friendship binds us and, in my opinion, this is the way to start the season on the right foot. Regardless, what binds us is the vision of football. I consider Antonio a person with great vision when it comes to choosing players because I have shared many of his insights over the years.”
On the objective of the season the DG responds:
“the first is to always remain with our feet down because the company wants to create a project. A Crotone of the future made of humility, work and sustainability. The two-year contract given to the new coach and sporting director are proof of this because Crotone wants to build, over the years, what its future can be which is not dictated by having to win. The championship always has pitfalls and we must always keep our feet on the ground.”
DS Amodio continues:
“I agree with what the DG said but regardless I think that the first thing is to bring back to Crotone the enthusiasm that has been missing in the last period. Anyone who loves Crotone must understand that things are not achieved by force.
The new sporting director is clear on the youth sector:
“I come from the youth sector, but Crotone has also worked well with the youth sector in recent years. It’s not easy because parents are always a little reluctant to bring their children to Calabria… but we’ll see what work needs to be done.”
And then on the new coach, again Amodio:
“for the coach it is useless to hide and in a few days we will make it official Mister Emilio Longo who has done very well with Picerno in the last two years, but as far as the market is concerned it is premature to talk about it now. We have some players who have to go out. We already have clear ideas about what the team of the future should be so we will rely on a base of experienced players with some young players. We have an excellent squad even if we need the group… and trying to do the best we can.”
DS is certain on the market:
“We are evaluating some young players so we must be good at taking young players who come out of the spring or who have had some experience in Serie C. I expect a market made up of exchanges because we have some valid players with a transfer market.”
Continue on the topic Vrenna:
“Vinicius is a solid point from where Crotone will start, being a very young and promising player even if there are no untransferable players. Crotone needs sustainability which will be given by the outgoing market. Let’s enjoy the journey with a coach who offers important football.”
Amodio then specifies the sustainability topic:
“sustainability not to generate wealth but to try to reinvest and create an economic circle that serves to manage society without drawing from external sources which would be a useless expense”.
As for FC Crotone’s initiatives, the DG assures:
“last year too we had many ideas that we then put into action. We want to try to go to schools and bring the population closer to the team even if it is in a category like this. We must learn to enjoy what little we have, hoping that this path will lead us to joy.”
An enthusiasmtherefore, than in the square of Crotone must necessarily be found, also because for four years now i sports results of Pythagorean society they were not complimentary.
It is necessarytherefore, of a important market with a defense to be rebuilt… and on this point the DS, which part with great enthusiasmreplies:
“In a few days we will have the discussion with the new coach. We must be good at creating enthusiasm even if it is then achieved with performances on the pitch and results. Players who have the desire and hunger to win like we have must arrive here! That has to be the basis. I know I’m arriving in an important place, I’m here to do absolutely well. For me Crotone is a starting point and I hope to take this team as high as possible; we need to erase all the past but, in the end, we will have to create an important family both internally and externally.”
The new Director Sporty it is without a shadow of a doubt an important first step for the new season of Crotone Calcio in view of the next championship which will start at the end of August.
We will therefore try to build a more than competitive squad that can bring the Crotonians as high as possible and therefore make their favorites relive the glories of a recent past.
