Bringing together the territory and young people, in order to support the creation of new start-ups in the field of environmental promotion, providing participants with training and planning tools: this is the mission carried out by the Sicilian delegation of the environmentalist association Marevivo.
The intervention concerns the province of Agrigento and currently involves a group of young people who reside in the municipalities of Montallegro, Cattolica Eraclea, Sciacca, Ribera, Siculiana and Canicattì, who participate in a training course to deepen their knowledge of the territory and grasp the many opportunities for sustainable development that can be seized by exploiting nature and culture.
The path also aims to train environmental educators who can work in the field of territorial promotion, environmental protection actions and awareness-raising activities.
An educational program that enables the construction of a close-knit team, the learning of environmental education techniques between science and experimentation, the knowledge of marine biology, the natural sciences peculiar to the Agrigento coast, experimentation, laboratories and exploration of the territory .
The trainers chosen to lead the course are all young and experienced in the activities that we intend to promote and who act as a mirror with their experience and youth to those who intend to increase knowledge and skills to spend in a new and movable working environment.
The project is financed by the Department of Family, Social Policies and Labor – Regional Department of Family and Social Policies with the resources of the Youth Policies Fund – year 2021 of the Youth Department of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
The project activities are numerous and also include the development of inclusive and supportive participation activities for young people living in small towns, to develop both knowledge and good practices with low environmental impact and eco-sustainability, as well as good practices aimed at education in sport, acquisition of skills in recreational and recreational activities.
The general objective of the Sicilian Department’s Notice is the promotion of the psychophysical well-being of young people and the prevention of discomfort among young people who live in the most disadvantaged areas and who, due to the few opportunities for fulfillment and integration, express needs to which answers need to be given concrete measures to deal with possible deviations.
Seizing the opportunities that the territory of this part of Sicily expresses and transforming them into opportunities for economic development that give certainty and a stable future to those young people who decide to stay in the place where they were born is a duty of the institutions and of all those who are engaged at various levels in local social and economic promotion.

It is not always easy to work in small towns and try to induce the belief that you can invest in what you have, although the tendency of new travelers is to find places that ensure contact with nature and the sea and live traditions and of the culture that characterizes them, and this territory still has so much to give.”
A group of young people will promote various events throughout the summer in the territories involved in order to bring together and bring together peers in a social process that puts the territory and well-being at the forefront of their life plans. We start from the Marevivo Oasis in Eraclea Minoa to involve beaches and squares with many awareness, sports and entertainment events.
But the workshops with schools, already started in the spring and which will continue at the beginning of the new school year, will not fail to continue, as will the professional orientation experiences intended for students, promoted by the Museo Diffuso of Sciacca in the artisan workshops of Sacco.
Thanks to the resources available to it, the Marevivo Oasis has also managed to face the structural difficulties caused by the unstoppable coastal erosion which has been literally devouring the coast for years.
In just twenty days over a thousand students arrived to visit the Marevivo Oasis to get to know the Agrigento area with its natural and cultural beauties and to learn the rules for loving and respecting nature and the environment.
All the events planned for the next few months will be disseminated through Marevivo Sicilia’s social channels, in the hope of arousing curiosity and welcoming many enthusiastic young people, involving them in new projects that ensure vitality to the area.
