Marinelli: the European elections are good, but the Democratic Party is not doing well in the Municipalities – Pescara

PESCARA. Good in the European elections, bad in the Municipalities. In a nutshell, the analysis of the vote of the Democratic Party which yesterday held a press conference in the building of the Regional Council in Pescara, in the presence of the president of the assembly Tiziana Di Renzothe regional secretary Daniele Marinellithe candidate for the European Parliament Manola Di Pasquale and the regional councilors Antonio Blasioli And Antonio Di Marco.
«The European elections in Abruzzo went well», remarked Marinelli, «we confirmed the percentage data of the regional elections and significantly reduced the gap with the national data compared to the historical one of the European elections. I want to thank the entire party for this good result and in particular Manola Di Pasquale, who spent a lot of effort, a sign that we have nominated a person capable of interpreting the pro-European sentiment of our community. That said”, continued the secretary, “it cannot be overlooked that in our region, as also illustrated by the regional elections, the progressive camp is in more difficulty in dealing with the right than the country average. This must lead us to multiply our work, both on a more general political level and on local issues, where we must engage in hand-to-hand combat with this regional government, of which we must denounce all the contradictions and wrong policies for the future of this region ».
The analysis then moved on to the administrative round. And Marinelli made no excuses: «We must be clear about the results, using the right words: these elections went badly, albeit with some important exceptions, starting from the municipality of Pineto and from the others where the center-left has demonstrated vitality, even snatching administrations from the center-right. We also knew that the effect of the regional elections would be felt and that in many of the municipalities voting we were called upon to oppose centre-right administrations in office, but these premises must not be alibis”. But where was the defeat most bitter? «Considering the most populous municipalities, I am very sorry for Atriwhere we could win”, replied the Dem secretary, “I am for City of Sant’Angelo, where we fought an important battle, reducing the distance with the right but without managing to beat it; I feel deeply sorry for Giulianova And Montesilvano».
But, above all, «I am deeply saddened by the outcome of Pescara. Despite Carlo Costantini fought with great energy, we were unable to go to the run-off, where another match would have opened up because we consider that of Carlo Masci a terrible administration.”
What are the remedies? The Democratic Party secretary stated: «First of all, the Democratic Party must be united and strong. The message from the citizens is clear: if the coalition is divided, it loses. The Democratic Party knows it is not self-sufficient and is the most unified force on the centre-left. It is necessary for all progressive forces to fully acquire this awareness and work in united coalitions. We must start again with more courage. Even with a renewal of our ruling class.”
Di Pasquale (over 17 thousand votes obtained in Abruzzo) wanted to express his thanks by stating: «The broad field is good, with the Democratic Party which must and can be a driving force for the opposition to right-wing governments». A challenge relaunched to the centre-right governor, Marcus Marsiliowho yesterday, in an interview with the centre, defined the wide field as “an inconclusive bandwagon”. (lc)
