In practice, as soon as the championship ended with salvation arriving at the last minute against Benevento, even before the red and blue team faced the playoffs, the vice president and managing director Vincenzo Grella had started contacts with Toscano.
It is no coincidence that around May 10, rumors began to emerge from the Romagna press linked to a possible transfer of the Cesena coach to Sicily. While Catania was preparing the playoffs by challenging Atalanta Under 23 and Avellino, the Etna club had also moved on the Sports Director front, having reached an agreement in principle with Daniele Faggiano, which was then made official.
