The progressive aging of the regional population, degrowth and the demographic issue, new needs and the role of care work. This is the “chain” that pushed the territorial trade union area of the CISL of Perugia led by its coordinator Valerio Natili, the Fnp CISL of Perugia led by the secretary Francesco Ferroni and the Fisascat CISL Umbra to organize Thursday 13 Juneas announced, the meeting on “Care work in aging Umbria”.
A highly topical topic that has been addressed from multiple points of view and at multiple levels. Special guest, who gave a national dimension to the issue, was the national Fisascat CISL secretary Aurora Blanca. Among the speakers: the president of Confcooperative Carlo Di Somma and the doctor, specialist in urology Andrea Boni, the president of the Actl Social Cooperative Sandro Corsi, the coordinator for the CISL of the Territorial Trade Union Area of Perugia and general secretary of Fisascat Cisl Umbria Valerio Natili , the general secretary of the Fnp Cisl of Perugia Francesco Ferroni and the general secretary of the Cisl Umbria Angelo Manzotti.
“In Umbria – explained Natili – as emerged during the work, there are 228,572 people over 65 years old out of a total of 854,137 residents, while those over 55 are 347,000 equal to 39.4% of residents. More and more people give up to be treated due to waiting lists, difficulty in reaching the indicated place or due to the time of day. Then there is the problem of loneliness and economic aspects.
The aim of this day was to photograph the Umbrian situation and evaluate possible consequences both in social and employment terms. Another issue to which maximum attention should be paid is that of the economic aspect regarding care and welfare. In this context, the role of social cooperation and of workers in this sector arises. National bargaining, which sees Fisascat Cisl as the protagonist, is therefore central to addressing the many critical issues on which we focused in today’s analysis”.
