“The program remains confirmed.” Was the mayor Stefano Lo Russo in person to remove fears of a possible cancellation of the traditional ones fires of San Giovanni on the occasion of the first celebrations in Piazza Castello.

The rain that hit Turin over the weekend forced smaller celebrations, but the most significant events were not cancelled. Rainy Sunday it didn’t stop the “I’ll do” the day beforealthough anticipated by almost an hour to the great surprise of those who showed up in the square after the games were over.

On Monday morning, a statement from the municipality reiterated the measures for the last evening of the celebration. The traditional fireworks display will take place as usual in the area of ​​Piazza Vittorio Veneto and Piazza Gran Madre di Dio at 10.30pm.

Access to Piazza Vittorio Veneto for the fireworks display a maximum of 49,500 people. The public will be able to access the square starting from around 6pm through a series of gates on all the streets leading to the square.

Already from 9 the Vittorio Emanuele I Bridge is closed to vehicular traffic (with the exception of emergency vehicles, the police force and vehicles with the demonstration sign) in both directions and for pedestrian traffic on the south pavement.

On the north pavement from 12pm. From 3pm until the need ceases, circulation and parking in the surrounding streets will be prohibited (detailed list on the Municipality website), as will be public transport diverted (but the metro will close at 1am): details on gtt.to.it. Taxis and electric scooters were also suspended.

As for the rules in the square «the administration, sale and possession for takeaway will be prohibited drinks with containers suitable for offending the person». It will be possible to bring umbrellas as long as they are foldablebut the “rigid” ones with a tip deemed dangerous could be banned by the police.
