Railways: Tuscany, legality protocol signed for the construction of the Empoli-Siena expansion

The legality protocol for the construction of the expansion of the line was signed EmpoliSiena.

The text was signed by the Prefect of Florence, Francesca Ferrandino, Prefect of Siena, Matilde Pirrera, representative of the Italian Railway Network (lead company of the Infrastructure Hub of the Italian FS Group), by the territorial representatives of Labor and the trade union organizations Fillea CGIL , Filca CISL and Feneal UIL.

The objective is to prevent and combat the infiltration of organized crime in the field of public procurement.

The interventions to which the provisions of the Protocol apply are the doubling of the Empoli-Granaiolo section, approximately 10 kilometers long, and the electrification of the Empoli-Siena line, for a length of approximately 63 kilometers.

The Legality Protocol provides for collaboration between the Prefectures and RFI to ensure full compliance with legality in public contracts, raising the level of effectiveness of administrative prevention activity for anti-mafia purposes.

The agreement provides, in addition to the standards required by law, further and broader forms of verification, monitoring and control, as well as the prevention of illicit interference for corrupt purposes.

In this sense, RFI, the contractor and all companies in the supply chain undertake to report any attempts at criminal influence to the Prefectures.

The activity is one of the initiatives undertaken by the FS Italiane Group, with the coordination of FS Security & Risk, to protect the construction of works and the provision of services of public interest from any infiltration attempt by organized crime.
