Experience and solidity: Giovanni Pini reinforces the forward department of Apu Old Wild West Udine

June 13, 2024

Apu Old Wild West Udine is pleased to announce the signing of the athlete Giovanni Pini.

Andrea Gracis (Sporting Director): “With Giovanni we are bringing in an expert player who has always brought a great contribution in terms of solidity and reliability to the teams in which he played.”

Adriano Vertemati (coach): “Giovanni has experience, a winning mentality and flexibility. He has always been a protagonist of this championship and with him we add an element of proven value to our forward department”.

Born in Carpi (in the province of Modena) on 25 July 1992, a center of 205 centimeters and 100 kilograms, Pini arrived in Udine after his experience in Serie A with Givova Scafati.

The new Juventus addition grew up in the youth sector of Pallacanestro Reggiana, the club with which he made his debut in Serie A2 in the 2010-2011 season. The following year, again with the Reggio Emilia shirt, he won the first promotion to Serie A of his career. After a 1 year loan to Fortitudo Bologna, Pini returned to Reggio Emilia in 2014 and played in the Italian top league at the age of 21. A two-year period full of successes, culminating with the championship final and the victory of the EuroChallenge. After finishing his experience in Emilia-Romagna, Giovanni played in Serie A for 1 year in Avellino. In the summer of 2016 he moved to Verona (in Serie A2), before returning to Fortitudo Bologna. With the “Effe” shirt the Juventus big man won the LNP Super Cup and achieved the second promotion of his career in the 2018-2019 season: for Pini he averaged over 9 points in 27 games. The doors open for a new experience in Serie A, this time with Virtus Roma (5 points and 3 rebounds per game in 22 minutes on average). In the summer of 2020 Giovanni signed for two years in Verona in A2. With the Venetian team he achieved his third personal promotion by beating Apu in the final. In Verona Pini returns to the Serie A floors after starting the 2022-2023 season in Cantù.

Pini wore the shirt of the Italian national team of Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20, for a total of 52 appearances. His last experience with Azzurro saw him as a protagonist with the National Experimental Team in 2014.

Welcome to Udine Giovanni!
