Varese in mourning for the passing of Monsignor Giovanni Buga, who held the position of Parish Vicar in the Sant’Antonio Abate Community of Varese.
The suffrage mass will be on Thursday 4 July at 10.45am in the Basilica of San Vittore and the funeral will take place in the afternoon at 4.15pm in the Basilica of Treviglio.
In the past years in the parishes of Varese he followed families, accompanied in the sacraments in particular those who approached confession in the Basilica of San Vittore, senior groups and celebrated the Eucharist for as long as his health accompanied him.
Born in 1949, originally from Rho, he became a priest in 1975.
He carried out his ministry as rector of the seminaries of Seveso and Masnago, of the De Filippi institute and president of the institute “La Casa”. Before arriving in Varese he had been parish priest in Porlezza where he was also dean and for a long time, in Treviglio, he was beloved Provost and Dean.

The chapel of rest set up in the Baptistery of San Giovanni will be open on July 2nd from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm, on July 3rd from 9:00 am to 11:30 am and from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on July 4th from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The Holy Rosary is scheduled for Wednesday 3rd at 6:30 pm, again in the Baptistery.
