There are only a few days left until the expiration of the collaboration agreement between the Municipality and the “Città Viva” committee for the management of the villa on Via Arno, in Caserta. In fact, the three-year agreement for the management of the villa will expire on July 14.

For seven years, since May 2017, the Committee has cared for and managed the villa, the only green area in the Acquaviva neighborhood and frequented by families and the elderly, first with an act of entrustment of the keys and then with the formula of the complex collaboration agreement, stipulated with the Municipality in July 2021. But to date the renewal has not yet occurred.

Last February 15, we read in a note from the Committee, “the first request for official renewal by the Città Viva Committee, followed by a long series of reminders and appeals signed by citizens and associations that have contributed to the regeneration of the park in recent years – the activists continue – The last of these, the invitation to Mayor Marino and the competent councilors to participate in the final event of summer activities organized by the Arcipelago network, held in the villa on Via Arno last June 24. We hoped to be able to announce and celebrate together the renewal of the agreement but once again the Municipality of Caserta is absent. Residents and associations are unable to find an explanation. In recent months, the expiring agreements that concern other shared management experiences have all been renewed by the administration, and even new ones have been signed. Even during the days in which the Municipality of Caserta was shaken by the earthquake of the investigations. So far, even the attempts to meet the mayor to personally ask for an answer have been in vain”.

“We’ve been calling the answering machine for a month now – says Federico, a resident of the Acquaviva neighborhood – every week they tell us that we’ll be called back, when we don’t know. A few months ago, a councilor told us that the reason why the renewal was on hold was the work scheduled for the Pinqua project in the villa. An answer that already left us perplexed at the time, given that for the Villetta di Parco Degli Aranci, still affected by the work that started in the winter, the agreement had been renewed without any problem. We are incredulous and angry but we won’t give up. We will soon return to the Municipality and alert all the institutions involved in the protection of the territory and that care about models of democracy and participation like this one for the Villetta di via Arno”, he concludes.
