An opportunity for growth and discussion, this is how we can define “I am also civil protection”, the school camp promoted by the Municipal Civil Protection Group.
Modica is one of the twelve municipalities that has been accredited to create a civil protection school camp. It is an intense week of study, discussion and personal growth for the 14 to 16 year olds of the high schools of Modica.
The activities began yesterday in the presence of the mayor of Modica, Maria Monisteri, the entire team of assessors, the Hon. Ignazio Abbate and the civil protection managers. The students will be engaged in moments of theoretical dissemination on emergency management, in addition to practical exercises, study and above all comparison.
“A group of very young people – says Giorgio Belluardo, councilor for the branch – is preparing to do a week of in-depth study. They will learn what civil protection is and our group of municipal volunteers. We are proud because we managed to organize a civil protection school, with exercises and lessons, for 28 boys and girls from our city.
The camp takes place in the Civil Protection gathering area inside the industrial area of Modica. The aim of the course is to instill in the young generations values such as volunteering, help and support in case of emergency.
The boys and girls of the school camp vibrate, so a full immersion experience, sleeping and eating inside the base camp. In the theoretical moments there are meetings with the police forces: Police, Carabinieri, Firefighters and Forest Rangers. In addition, they will know the Municipal Civil Protection Plan so as to understand how the rescue works and the activities that the group carries out to support the population.
Certainly a praiseworthy initiative to bring the younger generations ever closer to volunteering and taking care of the city. The works will end on July 6th.
