The future five-star luxury hotel which is being built in place of the former San Gottardo hotel in the center of Como, between Piazza Cavour, Via Fontana and Via Cairoli, and a few steps from the lake, “lost” the underground car park (but not the parking spaces provided overall). The company that is carrying out the intervention – which has entrusted the Como architect Elisabetta Cavalleri for the restoration and recovery – has requested and already obtained from the Municipality of Como the removal, with respect to what is foreseen by the existing agreement, of the underground garage. And therefore, faced with the need to find a total of 48 parking spaces and following the variant to the recovery plan which no longer provides for the construction of the garage in the basement, 19 parking spaces owned by the Pessina Immobiliare company have been identified and allocated at a property in via Carloni 16.
As regards the overall operation, everything is confirmed: the former San Gottardo will be reborn as a five-star luxury Radisson with an investment of around 30 million over two years. It will have 72 rooms, a ground floor connected to the public squares, a bistro, a lounge bar, a large reception, a spa and a gym area. A gourmet restaurant is planned on the roof, overlooking the lake. Opening expected in 2025.
