PESCARA. “High Noon” yesterday in Viale Pindaro. Flames on the roof of a building in Piazza Ettore Troilo, between the university and the city fire brigade barracks. Around 12pm, the materials of the insulation and waterproofing covering placed to protect the underlying load-bearing structure of the roof were burned.
A fire brigade team arrived from the nearby command, with several men, tankers and ladder trucks, to put out the flames and make the roof and the four-storey building safe, in which at that moment several offices were open and the civil homes.
The causes of the combustion are still being investigated. The extinguishing operations were made difficult by the smoldering combustion of the cladding materials: it took more than two hours of work to successfully conclude the intervention. A patrol from the State Police and the local police also arrived on site.
The intervention with many vehicles and men on the street attracted the attention of dozens of curious people who from the square had their eyes turned to the top floors of the building to try to understand what was happening. The cars also reduced their speed when crossing Viale Pindaro during work to put out the fire on the roof of the building. (oda)
