Milan have been very close to Joshua Zirkzee for almost a week now, however the operation does not yet have the characteristics of a completed transfer. Zirkzee’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, is putting a spanner in the works for the Rossoneri team and extending Bologna’s wait for the proceeds of the transfer. The Iranian prosecutor is known for his lack of malleability in negotiations and, this time too, when faced with Milan he is no different. So much so that in the last few hours, Milan’s difficulties in reaching an agreement have fueled some new rumors or rekindled some old flames.
The commission agreement
In particular, the now famous agreement on commissions is holding up the negotiations. We have already explained and summarized the story. However, it is worth remembering that this tug of war concerns only and exclusively the Rossoneri club and the Dutchman’s agent. The agreements between Joorabchian and Milan for the salary that Zirkzee will receive have paradoxically already been reached. What is missing is that agreement, not least, on the agent’s commission who initially asked for 20 million, it seemed it could go down to 12, but he definitively asked for 15.
This is not an exclusively venal issue. The Iranian asserts his power. Not only is he the agent of the Bologna player, but he is also the one who made his move to the rossoblù possible and obtained the inclusion of a release clause, moreover at a “good price”. In short, he is the deus ex machina (two years early) of Zirkzee’s farewell to Bologna. The rossoblù club, at this point, can only wait and see who will actually activate that clause and take Joshua away in the end. But the feeling is that in the end it will be Milan.
What else is behind Joorabchian’s bullish play?
The impression of the last few hours is that there is at least another club behind Joorabchian’s rise. If it is true that Zirkzee has expressed the desire to stay in Italy, it is reasonable to think that playing the bullish game by involving Manchester United or Arsenal would be a little smart on the part of the Iranian agent. So Juventus’ shadow appeared on the AC Milan-Zirkzee operation. The Bianconeri, as is known, have been attentive to the Dutchman’s move for some time. However, with the role of number 9 occupied by Dusan Vlahovic he doesn’t seem particularly pushed to enter into negotiations.
If all this is true, it is true and quite well known that Cristiano Giuntoli, number of the Juventus technical area, has a good relationship with Joorabchian. And it so happens that, in these very hours, the same Juventus manager and Joorabchian are closing together the mega operation that will bring Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa to Turin. A transfer worth 50, 60 million, including two other cards, those of McKennie and Iling Jr. who will make the reverse journey. And it is from here that we need to start again to understand who is behind this little bullish game by Kia Joorabchian who continues to keep the name of Juventus “inside” the operation. More of a nuisance, a misdirection than a purchase-oriented interest, but it should be noted.
