Bari, Leccese and Laforgia municipal councils in tandem: «We united in the ballot»

BARI – «We will present ourselves united on 23 and 24 June and we will remain united even afterwards, in the government of the city»: this was declared by the two centre-left mayoral candidates in Bari, Vito Leccese and Michele Laforgia, the first to arrive in the run-off with the centre-right candidate , Fabio Romito.

«We have declared publicly and for some time – they explain – that, having failed to agree on a united candidacy, we both accepted the candidacy for mayor with the aim not of dividing, but of uniting and broadening the coalition of progressive forces. We therefore participated separately in the first round of the local elections, with the commitment to support each other in the event of a run-off and to govern together, bringing together all the components of the broad progressive coalition. The vote of 8 and 9 June largely confirmed the will of the majority of the electorate to continue and improve the centre-left’s experience of government in Bari.”

«Right from the start – they explain – we will sign the pact for legality and, starting from the respective programs, we will work to share a common program that can represent the entire coalition, in coherence with the proposals we put forward at the time of the presentation of the lists and in electoral campaign for a fairer, more inclusive, more sustainable and greener city. With the agreement, immediately after the vote, to build together with all the components of the progressive coalition, with criteria of representativeness, competence and equal dignity, the team to guarantee the city the best possible government”.
