From the Azzurri to the Alto Adige Committee, through clubs and the Colturi Summer Camp: Italian is spoken at Les 2 Alpes

Another light snowfall on a still consistent blanket, temperatures that remain low, to the joy of the athletes and coaches, who have the opportunity to work optimally. The last summers are long gone, on the Les 2 Alpes glacier you can breathe the winter air. And everyone breathes a sigh of relief. «Luckily, the snow is perfect and we can do what we want» is the common comment from the technicians. From ski clubs to national teams, from regional committees to foreign teams. The thought is the same as you go from one corridor to another of the transalpine glacier, where once again you see many Italians.

Large turnout, but little chaos at the lifts: it goes well, without stress, also because the snow holds up without problems even at lunch time. There are still two weeks of summer skiing in France, the closure is confirmed for July 7th. For two reasons: the work on the new Jandri needs to be completed and the desire to let the glacier “rest” and preserve it remains. But above all, we are on the eve of an epochal turning point for the town, which after many years will retire a cable car that transported thousands and thousands of people. With a bit of melancholy, Les 2 Alpes is approaching the big change: on Sunday 7 July the Jandri will make its last race and it will be a day of celebration with an eye towards the future. In the meantime, work continues at great speed on the new plant, built practically in parallel and at a short distance, except for the last stretch where there is a real overlap. And it is for this reason that it is necessary to quickly close and dismantle the second section, to make room for the technological 3S cable car which from autumn will be able to transport many more skiers with a drastic reduction in travel times.

Meanwhile, summer skiing continues. There are the women’s and men’s C teams, with managers Paolo Boldrini and Alexander Ploner and there are the European Cup groups with Alexander Prosch and Damiano Scolari. There were those who worked in the giant slalom, those between the narrow poles and those who took advantage of the excellent conditions for training with long skis on the waves. Italian teams in full force, with Alice Calaba and Ludovica Righi returning to the track; Canada and Bosnia are also present, while the speed team from France is arriving, captained by Cyprien Sarrazin, fresh from an amazing season. And then the Alto Adige Committee, with the technicians Enrico Vicenzi and Daniel Dorigo, also busy on the waves.

The second Lara Colturi camp has just ended, which attracted young Italian and foreign skiers, including from the United States, Brazil, Spain and China. Lots of skiing in the morning, then moments of fun including walks to the waterfalls, downhill bike rides, rollerblade sessions, laser games, beach volleyball. « “the technical level of the participants was high. They all worked hard on skis and showed great interest and attention in learning and improving – says Daniela Ceccarelli, technical director of the Camp – In addition to the recreational activities, theoretical sessions in the classroom and video analysis were carried out”. Athletes between 13 and 16 years old will be on the track, with the possibility of testing the materials of Blizzard-Tecnica and Protern, partners of the camp together with Nasr and Spm. A successful first edition for everyone, for Lara and her staff and for the young skiers on the launch pad.
