Starting from today 12 June and until Friday 21 June part of the Catania ring road will be closed to traffic: “non-deferrable works for the sewer collector“. In particular, the excavations at the Monte Po metro station, in view of the imminent opening of the “Fontana” and “Monte Po” metro stations. The communication comes from the Municipality which, at the request of the Fce Circumetnea Metropolitana, has prepared a timetable. Meanwhile, traffic has significantly slowed down, as sometimes happens. It happened when speed cameras were installed, for example.

Timetable of works on the Catania ring road

From 9am Wednesday 12 June via Felice Fontana, northern carriageway, will be closed to traffic from the Monte Po roundabout towards Misterbianco for the execution of the works up to the center line of the central traffic island of the ring road. The municipal administration suggests the coplanar road of via Mezzocampo as an alternative road system. This, from the Monte Po roundabout, will bypass the closed section of the ring road. By 6pm Friday 14 Junethe entire carriageway of the ring road towards Misterbianco will be reopened to traffic. No work will be carried out on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June. Monday 17 Junestarting from 7.00 am, work will begin on Via Felice Fontana, South carriageway, on a single alternate lane in the direction from Misterbianco towards CataniaMonte Po roundabout, and traffic will be guaranteed on a single lane. Friday 21 Junestarting from 6.00 pm, is expected to be fully booked reopening of the ring road. The municipal police will be present to regulate traffic flows and alleviate traffic inconveniences, favoring alternative roads (San Giorgio, ring road, service axis exit and equipped axis).
