the 5 stages of the Mille Miglia

Everything is ready for the 2024 edition of the Mille Miglia, which will officially start on Tuesday 11 June and which for 5 days, in an anti-clockwise direction like 3 years ago, will allow the over 400 cars in the convoy to touch 7 regions. We will start from Brescia and the 1st stage, after passing through Bergamo, Novara and Vercelli, will end in Turin. The following day, continuing in the shadow of the Mole Antonelliana, we will continue south, crossing the Langhe, first crossing the center of Alba, then Genoa, European Capital of Sport 2024 and home to the first race lunch: the Ligurian capital is the great new to this edition, with a view of the port and a parade on the seafront. At the end of the stop, therefore, the Riviera di Levante will be left behind and, in the direction of the Tyrrhenian coast, we will reach Viareggio, the arrival of the 2nd stage. The third, however, scheduled for Thursday, will be characterized by the descent towards the capital, not without a detour towards the provinces of Lucca, Livorno and – after the break in Castiglione della Pescaia – Grosseto, in addition to the passage near Lake Bolsena , to end the day with the parade in via Veneto. Rome, once again, will represent the turning point, because during the 4th stage the crews will go up towards Orvieto, stop for lunch in Solomeo, reach Siena and Prato, cross the Futa and Raticosa passes and cross the finish line in Bologna. Finally, on Saturday 15 June, from the Emilian capital, pilots and navigators will cross Ferrara and Mantua, return to the vicinity of Lake Garda, Valtenesi and Salò, then parade in Viale Venezia in Brescia, the start and final destination of the 2024 Mille Miglia. Among the cars 33 different nations will be represented on this route of approximately 2,000 km, but Italy will still be the country with the largest number of competitors, and there will be 71 examples of cars that took part in the historic Mille Miglia speed race: Alfa Romeo is the ‘master’ with 50 cars, among which a rare block of 6C 1750s and three 8Cs stand out. There will also be 31 Porsches, 27 Jaguars, 25 Mercedes, 21 Ferraris and 17 Bugattis. Contending for the victory with Fabio Salvinelli and Andrea Vesco, one looking for the fourth consecutive title, the other the fifth (he also triumphed in 2020 alongside his father Roberto), the Argentine couple Juan Tonconogy and Barbara Ruffini, the last foreigners, will return present in the race’s Roll of Honor.
