At these administrative elections we were present in 23 out of 26 municipalities. Now as the Democratic Party and the center left our attention and our energies are already on the 3 runoffs in our province: Pontedera, San Miniato and Ponsacco, alongside our candidates Franconi, Giglioli and Wolves.
The vote on 8 and 9 June also saw a drop in turnout in the municipal elections, which went from 70.81% in 2019 to 65.47%; the only exception was for Casciana Terme – Lari and Monteverdi Marittimo where turnout increased slightly.
The Democratic Party and the centre-left confirm 12 administrations (Calci, Calcinaia, Casale Marittimo, Crespina – Lorenzana, Fauglia, Monteverdi Marittimo, Montopoli, Palaia, Peccioli, San Giuliano, Vicopisano and Volterra) and conquered two municipalities; Pomarance with Graziano Pacini, independent supported by PD, PSI and SI and Montescudaio with Loris Caprai.
The two victories are also important for their symbolic value: in Pomarance, the geothermal center of our province, also in view of the renewal of the geothermal concessions now imminent and in Montescudaio, in the hills, where together with Manzi, reconfirmed in Casale Marittimo, the Democratic Party and the center-left will govern another municipality.
Best wishes for good work to all newly elected or reconfirmed mayors, lists and councillors. There are many challenges that await us and only with strength and only together will we be able to face them.
Unfortunately, there are 4 municipalities (Capannoli, Casciana Terme – Lari, Castelfranco and Santa Croce sull’Arno) where our candidates and our lists are defeated. Our closeness and our heartfelt thanks to them for having fought and carried out the political proposal of the center-left with determination and competence.
Unfortunately, not even the citizens of Guardistallo and Castelnuovo Val di Cecina rewarded the proposal of the civic candidates we supported.
Now we remain focused on the runoffs, to advance and support our candidates and stop the advance of the right in our territory.
