Lazio fans daydream and scan the horizon. President Claudio Lotito, despite recent criticism, has an ambitious goal: to transform the Flaminio stadium into the new and glittering home of the Biancocelesti.

He wrote to the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and in the next few days he will reveal the project to recover and reinvent the facility, transforming it into the true temple of Lazio.

Lotito, who last winter defined his plan as “a project you can’t say no to”, he sent a letter to Gualtieri, who responded enthusiastically, declaring himself ready for a meeting.

We have set some dates for us to meet. So, we will see each other soon,” announced Gualtieri from the stage of the Festa dell’Unità.

On the project he added: “We are completely open to this proposal and we consider it positive that a company wants to invest in a stadium.

We will evaluate if the commitment will be concrete and the project adequate. We are ready to meet Lotito.”

The Lazio president is over the moon. “I conducted a series of checks and analyses to develop a feasibility plan to transform the Flaminio stadium in Rome into the home of Lazio.

Obviously, we are interested in developing a restructuring plan in full compliance with current regulations,” Lotito wrote in his letter to the mayor.

The project exists, but what does it involve? Unlike Roma’s stadium in Pietralata, which has yet to be built, the Flaminio is already there, but has been in a state of disrepair for too long.

Furthermore, it is an architectural jewel to be preserved.signed by Pier Luigi Nervi. Currently, the capacity of the Flaminio is not sufficient. Lazio attracts an average of over 45 thousand spectators, so the new facility should host at least 50 thousand.

The idea is to build a second, taller ring around the structure existing and add coverage for fans. The rendering of the project has already been seen by someone, such as the Capitoline councilor for Sport, Alessandro Onorato: “It is a very ambitious project, which enhances the beauty of the facility and its architecture”, he described. “This is why we are very optimistic. Lotito has taken concrete action and is serious.”
