The Italian Athletics Championships are archived, hosted in La Spezia for the first time in their long history. A two-day event that saw the city at the center of Italian sport as the competing athletes not only fought for the tricolor, but also for qualification for the next Paris Olympics. For La Spezia and the “Montagna” sports center it was the first time: “An important test bed – said the mayor Pierluigi Peracchini in the comment at the end of the event -, which required a high level of preparation and organisation, a level that our employees were perfectly able to achieve: from public works, which in recent months followed the interventions on the sports field to make it a unique facility and among the few in Italy capable of hosting national and international level events, to the sports office for the perfect organization, in synergy with Fidal and Atletica Spezia Duferco, in addition to the mobility and safety that have worked in recent days challenging.” Peracchini traces the present and future line: “This event has given a significant signal, that for La Spezia sport is a priority, in which we are continuing to invest resources for new facilities and to increase the quality of existing ones, so that more and more people from La Spezia achieve important results, as well as promoting physical activity and the benefits it brings. I extend my best wishes to the athletes from La Spezia for their future and to those who participated in the competitions from all over Italy, in the hope that the results obtained in La Spezia are a good omen for winning the first prize in the next Olympics”.
