The first British Day, organized by Lotus Team Italia in collaboration with the Municipality of Pistoia and the Automobile Club Pistoia, offered enthusiasts and the curious an unforgettable experience of history, beauty and technology. The event, which saw the enthusiastic participation of owners of English sports cars from all over Italy and abroad, was a notable success. The main day of the rally took place on Sunday 16 June, but the festive atmosphere has enveloped the city since Friday 14 June, when the first crews met in Lucca for a visit to the city and a convivial dinner. Saturday 15 June marked the start of dynamic activities with an exciting road tour towards the route of the famous Lima-Abetone hill climb. This 12 kilometer course, known for its twists and turns, has been the scene of memorable challenges between some of the specialty’s greatest drivers. Having reached the Abetone pass, the crews made a stop before heading to Bardalone (PT) for a tribute visit to the hillclimbing champion Mauro Nesti, whose museum house moved all the participants with its precious memorabilia. The day ended in Pistoia with the arrival of the crews at the Grand Hotel Villa Cappugi, where they were welcomed for an overnight stay, followed by a dinner in a renowned restaurant in the historic center. The culmination of the event was reached on Sunday 16 June, when 62 English sports cars transformed Piazza del Duomo into a true motoring salon. Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Lotus, Morgan, Austin-Healey, Triumph, MG, Mini, Catheram and Westfield paraded before a fascinated audience. The Mayor of Pistoia, Alessandro Tomasi, honored the event with his presence, receiving a certificate of thanks from the organizers. After a breakfast in the square, the colorful caravan, escorted by 7 motorcyclists from the Motoclub 1000 HP of Pistoia, set off on a tour of the Tuscan hills, crossing suggestive locations such as San Baronto, Lamporecchio, Vinci and Carmignano. The tour offered breathtaking views of vineyards and olive groves, culminating in the arrival at Villa Zaccanti in Quarrata (PT), a historic 18th century noble residence. During the stay at Villa Zaccanti, a competition was held which awarded the most representative cars in various categories: Best Classic, Best Youngtimer, Best Elegance, Best Sport, Best Lotus and Best of All. The over 100 participants, including drivers and companions, voted for their favorites, contributing to an atmosphere of friendly competition and great enthusiasm. The first British Day in Pistoia demonstrated how the passion for English sports cars can unite people of different nationalities and backgrounds in an event of great refinement and conviviality. The event, made possible thanks to the support of the Municipality of Pistoia and numerous sponsors including Chianti Banca, Logos Forniture Pistoia and Colorpix srl, took place in an atmosphere of friendship and sharing, guaranteeing an unforgettable experience for all participants. Lotus Team Italia, with its decades of experience in organizing rallies, was able to create a memorable event which, given its success, will certainly be repeated in 2025.
