The new president of the Forlì section of the Tiro a Segno Nazionale is a man from Cesena, Stefano Angeli.
Why is someone from Cesena at the helm of an institution from Forlì?
“Because there isn’t a shooting range in Cesena, so those from Cesena who want to practice target shooting have to turn to Forlì. But I have a completely new management team at my side, determined to relaunch this institution which turns 140 this year , having been born in 1884: the vice president Stefano Filippi, the councilors Giovambattista Ricchiello, Giorgio De Paoli and Antonio Volonnino, the auditor Manuela Russo, the auditor Filippo Poggi, the athlete manager Claudia Fiore and the technical manager Evaristo Arena”.
What does a national shooting range do?
“The TSN has three main functions: the education of those who have or obtain a firearms license to manage and handle their weapon safely; the institutional one since various security guard agencies, law enforcement agencies, local police of some municipalities and army departments; sports police, which should be our main function, given that we are affiliated to a national sports association, the Uits (Italian Shooting Union)”.
What plans do you have?
“We want to relaunch this sector, especially targeting young people, given that Italy has always had great satisfaction from shooting specialties, including Olympic ones, and it is therefore a tradition that must be cultivated from the bottom up, i.e. by the local sections”.
Do you practice sport shooting?
“Yes, I do sports rapid shooting and dynamic shooting, trying to compete at least with those of my age, competing with athletes who are 20 or 30 years younger than me is tough, but I still defend myself. In particular, I would like to commit to relaunching sports rapid shooting in Forlì, which is a specialty promoted by Uits, but obviously without neglecting all the other sports specialties”.
