Closes on Tuesday 11 June Genoa the long journey of CSR Tour of Italywhich tomorrow celebrates the tenth and final stage of 2024. The traveling event of CSR and sustainable innovation exhibition this time it will be hosted in the prestigious setting of Ducal Palace, in Piazza Matteotti, in the Minor Council room. The works will start at 10.15am and will have as their main theme “Culture, tourism and territory: the challenges of sustainability”.

From February to today, ten Italian cities have been the protagonists of this long marathon, created to enhance the concrete experiences of businesses and territories and promote the culture of sustainability: Rome, Turin, Gorizia, Teramo, Verona, Messina, Bologna, Bari, Cagliari and now Genoa.

«Investing resources in cultural and environmental activities brings benefits to all social actors and sets the energies of local communities in motion», is the comment of Rossella Sobrero of the group promoting the show. «Businesses can contribute to improving the attractiveness of the country also on a tourist level: a commitment that strengthens their reputation, develops relational marketing, allows them to spread their values and obtain greater consensus».

The Ligurian stage of the CSR Giro d’Italia, organized in collaboration with EticLab and with Palazzo Ducale Foundation for culture, places emphasis on sustainable tourism. Already from 2022 the Liguria region actively participates in the drafting of the Tourism Transition Pathwaythe transition path supported byEuropean Union which points to develop climate action plans, improve the use of the hinterland and raise the quality of tourist flows to combat theovertourism. A commitment that is already bearing fruit, as he will confirm at the opening of the meeting Renato Rovida, president of EticLab. «I am happy that Eticlab contributed to realizing the stage again this year», comments Rovida. «The growth in tourist flows that we have encountered in recent years presents us with many opportunities, but also with some contradictions: if on the one hand we can only be happy that Genoa’s tourist vocation is consolidated year after year, on the moreover, we need to reflect on how flows can be managed so that inhabitants and tourists can coexist in a sustainable way that respects the environment and people”.

The promotion and valorisation of cultural heritage can also contribute to promoting the growth of the local community, and to the social and economic development of the Ligurian territory. To explain how they will be Ilaria Bonacossadirector of Palazzo Ducale Foundation for Culture, e Mario Calderinifull professor of School of Management of the Polytechnic of Milanduring the scenario intervention that will open the stage.

«Cultural institutions act as catalysts of social responsibility and innovation, intercepting the most innovative and impactful practices that can contribute to the creation of an aware and active citizenship», underlines Bonacossa. «This year, for the first time, the Foundation team is working on the integrated budget, demonstrating how important and urgent these issues are in light of the transformations that surround us. It is an honor for the Foundation to be able to mark the last stage of this important tour which has seen personalities and experiences converge on the creation of a future vision.”

Liguria, also due to its geographical conformation, has always been a region at high risk of tourist overcrowding. The consequences ofovertourism are now known in the area: from the worsening of the quality of life of residents to depopulation, from the environmental erosion of the area to the increase in pollution. The Genoese stage of the CSR Giro d’Italia wants to highlight these problems and possible solutions: they will talk about it Agostino Petrilloprofessor of Sociology of the environment and territory at the Polytechnic of Milan; Lara Pencoprofessor of Economics and business management at the University of Genoa; Roberta Milano, travel & tourism marketing strategist.

The experiences from the territory, all in the name of innovation and creativity, will be told to the public in the final round table, in which they will participate Paolo Bassettiresponsible for “Ca’ del Buio” in Finale Ligure, the first CasaClima certified Ligurian Eco B&B; Enrico Pedemontemanager of the B&B “La Sosta della Tartaruga” in Genoa, based on accessible and responsible tourism; Catherine Christmaspresident of the travel agency “Turismo sustainable 5 Terre”, dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism in the Cinque Terre area and its surroundings; Marco Montolipresident of the social cooperative “Il Ce.sto”, which promotes educational, creative and cultural projects in the historic center of Genoa.
