PAVIA – On the evening of Sunday 9 June, at 11pm, the polls closed for the administrative and European elections in the province of Pavia. The final turnout data reveal a significant decrease compared to previous elections. For the Europeans, the turnout stood at 56.2%, down compared to the 64.3% of the previous ones. The municipal elections saw a turnout of 62.7%, compared to 68.3% in past elections.

The picture of the situation for the municipal elections is clearly emerging already on Sunday evening. In 30 of the 31 municipalities in the province where only one candidate presented himself, the turnout exceeded the quorum of 40%, making it possible to declare elected mayoral candidates. In these municipalities, the only requirement to validate the vote was to exceed the minimum participation threshold.

Among the newly elected mayors there are: Roberto Casimiro Veronesi in Torre d’Isola, Giorgio Costa in Ceranova, Bruno Tremonte in Gerenzago, Enrico Vignati in Inverno and Monteleone, and Alessandro Pettinari in Filighera. In the Oltrepò Pavese, Enrico Frattini in Retorbido, Andrea Mariani in Montebello della Battaglia, Maurizio Fusi in Pancarana, Giuseppe Masso in Cornale and Bastida, Vittorio Balduzzi in Corana, Giorgio Falbo in Barbianello, Martino Bossi in Volpara, Mattia Franza in Bagnaria, Andrea Giganti in Borgo Priolo, Cristiano Bianchi in Cecima, Carlo Ferrari in Montesegale, Claudio Segni in Rea, Celestino Pernigotti in Ponte Nizza, Michele Lanati in Corvino San Quirico, Achille Lanfranchi in Fortunago, Enrica Brega in Montescano, Paolino Bertorelli in Menconico , Andrea Gandolfi in Santa Margherita Staffora, Luigino Polin in Verretto, Fabio Molinari in Borgoratto Mormorolo, Claudio Scabini in Golferenzo and Andrea Defilippi in Oliva Gessi. In Lomellina, the elected mayors are Roberto Francese in Robbio, Margherita Tonetti in Langosco and Pietro Ghiselli in Sartirana.

The municipality of Rocca de’ Giorgi, where the candidate Paolo FiocchI was waiting to know if the turnout would exceed 40%, but only saw the quorum reached in the last available hours. With a 35% turnout recorded at 7pm, the verdict was suspended until it was confirmed that the minimum quorum had been reached, thus allowing Fiocchi to be elected.

The turnout in the main cities of the province shows a varied picture. In Pavia 59.8% of voters voted, while Vigevano recorded 46.7% and Voghera 47.9%. These data, while highlighting a general decline, show significant participation in urban areas.

The counting operations will begin on Monday at 2pm, when the ballots will be counted and the official results will be communicated. You can follow the count live starting from 3pm on Radio Gold.
