The procedure for denying your consent
On June 26th Meta will collect all the publications of users who have not expressed their dissent, stocking up on photos, videos and everything that users have posted about Instagram and other platforms to train your own generative AI. The worst thing is that many users were not notified and therefore it is as if they had already accepted without knowing it.
To deactivate this data collection procedure, the user must go to Instagram and then click on the three dots. At this point you need to scroll to the bottom and select the “Information” option in the next menu. Then you need to click on Privacy Policy and then click on the three dots again.
At the top right you must then click on “other policies” and finally on how Meta uses the information for the functions of the generative Artificial Intelligence model. It’s a well-hidden menu. The user who does not want to give his consent to data collection must scroll to the right to object clause where there is a link to click on to fill out the form. And it is precisely here that the user will be able to specify that they are against the fact that Meta uses their data, photos, videos and other publications to train artificial intelligence. It is a somewhat complex procedure but it must be done if you want to protect your privacy.
Many users have already denied consent
Data collection by Meta, at least for the moment, will be limited only to users of Facebook and Instagram (and not the ones they use Whatsapp). Many users have already carried out this denial procedure because they consider the fact that Meta uses their material as a risk to their privacy. And it is not said that in the future the institutions cannot also move against the new policy if any contrary aspects to the provisions of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation, i.e. the EU regulation for data protection).
