The new sporting director of Palermo, Morgan De Sanctis, it was clear during the presentation press conference: the pink club, during the transfer market, only deals with important players, capable of raising the technical and physical level of an already good base. At the moment there are mainly three main objectives.

The first name on De Sanctis’ list is that of Jari Vandeputte. The Catanzaro winger was one of the best players in last Serie B, he scored 9 goals and provided 14 assists (the best in this special ranking). The Calabrian club wants to monetize from the sale and is ‘shooting’ high: it wants a figure of around four million euros. The main problem, however, is that there is competition from Serie A; Udinese, in fact, is interested in the player. It will take time to unblock a difficult negotiation, but Palermo is there.

Another goal is Luca Mazzitelli. The Frosinone midfielder is coming off a good season in Serie A – he scored five goals in 29 appearances – and is evaluating his future. The club has no intention of selling him, especially to competitors in Serie B, but there could be glimmers of opportunity if the boy asks for a transfer. There is also interest from Serie A for Mazzitelli, with Parma in the front row.

For the defense, however, the main objective is Dimitrios Nikolaou. The Spezia captain was an irremovable starter last season and can boast 76 appearances in Serie A. Palermo is working on an exchange with Edoardo Soleri, the parties appear close to an agreement. Nikolaou is a strong Greek central defender born in 1998.
