Whether it’s acrobatic, fried, American, by the meter in a pan, whether it’s Neapolitan, Italian or foreign hands, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s pizza.

And at the Caputo trophy world pizza chef championship there was all this. The event held at Mostra D’Oltremare, organized by the Neapolitan Pizza Makers Association (Apn) and promoted by Mulino Caputo, saw the participation of over 600 pizza makers from all over the world, a number never reached before. A special edition which also celebrated the 100th anniversary of Mulino Caputo and paid homage to Sergio Miccù, the unforgettable founder of the APN, who recently passed away.

A tasty and exciting challenge that has crowned its new queen of pizza: Daniela Zuñiga, 35-year-old Chilean pizza chef, winner of the title of World Champion in the Neapolitan Pizza STG category

The competition took place in an atmosphere of great enthusiasm and sportsmanship, with the pizza chefs challenging each other with creative pizzas judged by the jury made up of internationally renowned master pizza chefs ready to evaluate the technique, taste, originality and presentation of the pizzas.

Daniela Zuñiga’s victory is a symbol of the internationality and fascination that Neapolitan pizza has throughout the world. Her passion for this culinary art was born in Chile, where she attended masterclasses with Neapolitan pizza masters. She has been running a pizzeria in Ranco for three years and her dream has always been to bring a piece of Naples to Chile.
