The polls are officially closed and counting operations have now begun. In the province of Avellino, including the capital city, there are 42 municipalities ready to announce the name of the new mayor. In the European elections, the final percentage of voters in Irpinia is less than 50%, with peaks in Domicella (86.72%) and Taurano (82.46%). Seven mayors, running without opponents, only had to exceed the quorum: Antonio Tranfaglia in Taurasi, Fausto Picone in Candida, Antonio Spiniello in Grottolella, Giuseppe De Pasquale in Bonito, Michele Spinazzola in Melito Irpino, Antonio Manzi in Carife and Gerardo D’Angola in Sant’Andrea di Conza. Great anticipation in the city, where seven candidates are competing for the position of mayor: Laura Nargi, Rino Genovese, Antonio Gengaro, Gennaro Romei, Aldo D’Andrea, Vittorio Boccieri and Modestino Iandoli, supported by sixteen lists.

Meanwhile, the counting of the orange ballots for the renewal of the European Parliament has begun.
