Ita Airways grows in Africa: Rome-Accra non-stop begins

Ita flies towardsAfrica with the new flight operating from 6 June from Rome Fiumicino directly to Accra, Ghana, the company’s first destination in sub-Saharan Africa.

The new connection has the following programming: Rome-Accra, three weekly flights which will become four from July, departing from Fiumicino at 3.30pm and arriving in Ghana at 7.15pm (local time); Accra-Rome, however, will have three weekly frequencies which will become four from July with departure from Kotoka airport at 11.45pm (local time), and arrival in Fiumicino at 7.35am the following morning.

Present at the ribbon cutting ceremony at Terminal E of the Leonardo da Vinci airport in Fiumicino, among others, Merene Benyah, Ghanaian ambassador to Italy; the advisor Mario Bartolihead of the office for the countries of Central and West Africa of the general directorate for globalization and global issues of the Maeci (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation); Ivan Bassatochief aviation officer of Aeroporti di Roma, ed Emiliana Limosani, chief commercial officer of Ita Airways and CEO of Volare who expressed himself thus for the company: «We are proud to inaugurate the new direct flight between Rome and Accra. The opening of the direct connection between Italy and Ghana represents an important step forward for the company: it is the first new flight of the current summer season towards the African continent, a market with great potential, and will allow Ita Airways not only to obtain a strategic entry for point-to-point traffic, but also to reach other destinations within both countries, thus combining tourism and business travel”.

The connection to Accra will be followed by the inauguration of the new flights Rome Fiumicino-Dakar in July, and in August in the Middle East Rome Fiumicino-Jeddah.
