Threats with an ax and beatings to his wife, a 40-year-old Albanian acquitted of the charges

Accused of having beaten his wife by hitting her in the face, of having brandished an ax and of having ordered his wife to chop off his head with an axe, he was acquitted from the main accusation, but not from those of resistance and injury to a public official against police officers who came to the aid of his wife.

A 40-year-old Albanian citizen was accused in this trial yesterday in court. The man was in prison for the incidents of mistreatment, but at the end of the hearing, having been acquitted of the main charges, he was released.

The trial was held before judge Alessandro Rago. The prosecutor was Antonio Rubino. The defense lawyers were Paolo Lentini and Alida Liardo, the civil party lawyer Wally Salvagnini.

At the end of his indictment, the prosecutor, deeming the accused guilty, asked for a five-year sentence. The defenders had instead concluded their arguments by asking for acquittal.

The judge sentenced the accused to one year and three months for resisting a public official and causing injuries, but acquitted him for mistreatment, threats and for refusing to provide his personal details to the police.

The events that brought the Albanian to court occurred last year in Piacenza, where the couple lived.
