BISCEGLIE – Exhibitions of period photos and films, conferences, concerts and institutional ceremonies in the name of the history, values and ideals of the Navy. The program of events linked to the solemn celebration of the maritime operational component of the Italian defense is particularly dense, prepared in Bisceglie by the local Anmi group with the collaboration of the historical musical association «Vittorio Manente» and the history of the Navy band as well as with the support of the municipal administration.
Spread over four intense days, the program was inaugurated yesterday afternoon with two evocative exhibitions in the rooms of Palazzo Tupputi, open to citizens until tomorrow: the first, unique in its kind, concerns the historical journey of the Navy band, while the The other focuses on an exhibition of naval models. At the same time, the hall of mirrors hosted the conference on the famous «Premuda Enterprise» of 10 June 1918. The greetings of the Anmi president of Bisceglie, Pasquale Brescia, and the mayor Angelantonio Angarano, were followed by the speech of the researcher and historian Michele Fiorentino, author of numerous publications on the navy, who described the feat carried out by the Mas 15 and 21 and their crews in the midst of the First World War off the coast of the Croatian island.
A journey through history to retrace the various phases of the establishment of Navy Day, described extensively through the screening of films.
Meanwhile today, at 6.30 pm, Fiorentino himself will present his latest book at Palazzo Tupputi: “Le Fanfare Musicali dalla Regia Marina alla Marina Militare”: an excursus into music with the stars conducted through historical-musical metacommunication with the young maestro Giovanni Carelli , in which there will be no shortage of unpublished historical photos accompanied by the performance of famous and ancient military musical pieces, performed on the piano by Marco De Marinis.
The cultural activities will continue over the weekend with guided tours for school groups in the area and practical demonstrations of seafaring arts until the key day on Monday. In the morning, in fact, the traditional institutional ceremony will take place at the Monument to the Sailor in via Nazario Sauro, while at 8pm the “Concert for Peace” will be held, again promoted by the local Anmi group at the Politeama Italia Theatre, performed by the band concert «Biagio Abbate» directed by Maestro Benedetto Grillo.
