With the stabilization of weather conditions, treatments to contain insects at Lake Trasimeno will begin next week. The Umbria 1 Local Health Authority has developed a new integrated control strategy which, in addition to the distribution of an organic product with a pilot boat and an amphibious hovercraft, will employ capture devices. The larvicidal products will make it possible to contain the development of mosquito larvae of the Culex genus, the objective of the “Prevention interventions to control the spread of the West Nile virus. This activity is integrated this year with more accurate monitoring of the species develop on the lake with the use of new capture traps.
