Pontifical mass in the Cathedral and recital by Roberto Mercadini

On June 24th the religious holiday of Saint John the Baptist is celebrated, patron saint of the city of Cesena and owner of the Cathedral. The Diocese celebrates, as per tradition, with the pontifical mass presided over by Bishop Douglas Regattieri at 10am in the Cathedral. During the celebration, the Schola ‘Santa Cecilia’ will sing the Missa ‘Salve Regina’ for four voices by Valeriano Tassani. The direction is entrusted to maestro Gianni della Vittoria. Maestro Terzo Campana will be on the organ. The Mass will be broadcast live by Teleromagna (channel 14 of digital terrestrial) starting from 9.30 am. In the evening, at 9pm, at the cloister of San Francesco, the playwright, writer, actor and poet Roberto Mercadini will bring on stage his monologue “Felicità for dummies – Happiness for denied”. In case of rain, the show will be held in the church of Sant’Agostino. Entrance is free.

“In recent times – writes the author in introducing the show – I have been asked many questions. I have met immensely happy people. I have spent entire hours observing animals and even objects that seemed to have a lot to teach me. The fruit of all this is this monologue”.

As part of the celebrations of the diocesan feast, last Sunday, 16 June, the wedding anniversaries were remembered in the church of Martorano. About seventy couples took part in the Mass celebrated by Bishop Douglas.
