GIULIANOVA. Jwan Costantini he was officially proclaimed mayor of Giulianova for the second time, after the overwhelming electoral success with almost 62% of the votes. The proclamation ceremony took place yesterday morning in the council chamber in the presence of the judge Marco Procaccini, which concluded the work of the electoral commission and made Costantini official at the helm of the city. Immediately after the proclamation, the new municipal council took office. The centre-right majority is made up of eleven councillors, one more than in 2019: Marco Cartone And Paolo Bonaduce (“Jwan Costantini mayor”), Matteo Francioni And Marialuigia Orfanelli (exponents of the Brothers of Italy), Paolo Giorgini, Nausicaa Cameli, Marco Di Carlo (“Giulianova Turismo”), Roberto Mastrilli And Federico Montebello (Giulia_nova objective), Lidia Albani (Forza Italia) e Riccardo Cichella (“Towards Giulianova”). The minority, made up of the centre-left coalition and the left-wing coalition, takes five seats and will see the presence of mayoral candidates on the council benches Alberta Ortolani And Daniele Di MassimantonioOf Oreste Marchionni (elected in the Democratic Party), Franco Arboretti (leader of the Citizen Governer) e Alessia Mazzagufo (“Coltura politica”, the civic body close to the Popular Union in support of Di Massimantonio); Mazzagufo snatches” the CEO seat Alessandra Matone, second of the elected members of the Democratic Party. But the Dems, through the national leader of the party Giorgio D’Ignazio, they don’t agree and announce an appeal to the TAR for the exclusion of Matone. «From our calculations, using the D’Hondt method, we have two city councilors for the Democratic Party», declares D’Ignazio, «so we will certainly appeal to the administrative tribunal with the aim of regaining the seat. We are returning to the city council after five years of absence: we will present a proactive and inclusive opposition, also addressing those who may be disappointed by the centre-right.”
The mayor expressed regret for the absence of most of the minority councilors at the proclamation, represented only by Di Massimantonio. Costantini confirmed that he wanted to be “everyone’s mayor” and expressed his intention to collaborate with the opposition: “The people of Giulia clearly said at the polls that they wanted to continue the path undertaken in 2019, we will also be attentive to the needs of the councilors of opposition”. On Monday the mayor will meet the coordinators of the civic and party lists to share the path for the composition of the government team. Lidia Albani, the first to be elected in Forza Italia, did not hide her desire to continue to hold the position of vice mayor. «The municipal council will be defined by the middle of next week», says the mayor, «while the first council of my second mandate will be held in early July». Costantini assured that the council will meet with the subrogations of the councilors already made.
Costantini, on the sidelines of the ceremony, took the opportunity to announce a new public works plan, with particular attention to maintenance and urban greenery. «There are many works in progress», he continues, «and together with the councilor for public works, who we will choose in the next few hours, we will get to work on a great public works plan which is what the citizens are asking of us: the resources Yes, we have neglected the small maintenance tasks and now we will focus on those.” Furthermore, the mayor declared that the city’s fifth asphalting plan will begin in September: “We didn’t start it earlier to avoid controversy during the election campaign, but it has already been launched and ready to go,” he concluded.
