VisitAR Bologna is born, an app to discover the places of Guglielmo Marconi and music

Modena, 7 June. (askanews) – There is a city made of streets, gardens, buildings, churches, theaters and statues. You can experience it by walking through the historic centre, passing for example the birthplace of Guglielmo Marconi or the monuments of the Certosa just outside the door. Then there is the city of music: you experience it if you let yourself be carried away by the notes that come out of Lucio Dalla’s house or from the trattoria where Francesco Guccini loved to spend his evenings in the company of friends. Both are now within reach in Bologna. Tourists and citizens, if they want to be transported on a double journey between real and virtual, can do so via an app developed in the context of the actions of the House of Emerging Technologies of the Municipality of Bologna in collaboration with TIM Enterprise. “The VsitAR app – explained Susanna Jean, Tim Enterprise 5G, Verticals & IoT Offer Marketing Manager – is based on the new technologies that as Tim Enterprise we make available through our XR platform which allows you to make the contents and visiting experiences immersive, engaging through animated content, animations for example of statues that can be found within visit AR Bologna, interactive routes and engaging experiences suitable for new generations”. The app illustrates around 100 points of interest, geolocalised and shown on a map, and enhanced by texts, audio, video, animations and 3D models in augmented reality. Thus, for example, while Mozart and Augusto Righi “emerge” from the static nature of canvases and sculptures to recount direct experiences, it is possible to interact with Marconi’s “tools of the trades”. “It happens because there are contents – said Rosa Grimaldi, delegate for innovation of Bologna and the Metropolitan City -. At the moment these are two projects but more generally they have to do with a city that has art and culture and which is very attractive for these reasons. It also happens here because we know how to combine this incredible heritage of the city with technological tools that make art and culture more accessible not only to tourists, but also to citizens and people in any age group. age”. In Bologna, as part of the CTE COBO project, TIM Enterprise makes its capabilities available through a technological infrastructure which, thanks to 5G and edge computing, supports content processing. One of the objectives of TIM Enterprise is to accompany large companies and public administrations in the transformation of cities into smart cities. “In recent weeks we have launched our new visual campaign – recalled Susanna Jean – and our claim which is ‘there is a tomorrow to create, trust us’. This is to convey how technology is a tool that we make available precisely to be dynamic, transform cities and tourism experiences, make cities more intelligent and sustainable and increasingly enhance the vast cultural heritage we have in Italy”. Several projects developed in other Italian cities such as that of Opera Santa Croce in Florence where 5G and XR technologies allow the visitor to immerse themselves in the cultural heritage and live an engaging experience with statues and paintings that come to life and speak to the visitor .
