ABRUZZO. Two hundred retired farmers took part, this morning in Pescara, in the Petruzzi auditorium of the Museum of the People of Abruzzo, in the Coldiretti Abruzzo Seniors’ meeting entitled “Sowing with pride”. The meeting, which annually brings together the most active over 60 members of Coldiretti, respected the consolidated format: a moment of meeting and discussion between seniors, young people and women entrepreneurs to discuss the present, past and future of the organization which, this year, it has celebrated 80 years of activity since its foundation.
A day of reflection, proposal and celebration which saw the presence of the national president of the Coldiretti Pensioners Giorgio Grenzi, the head of the youth policies office with responsibility for active aging of the Abruzzo Region Marzio Maria Cimini, as well as the regional president of the Senior Coldiretti Abruzzo Pietro Giannantonio, the president of Coldiretti Abruzzo Pietropaolo Martinelli and the director Roberto Rampazzo who moderated the round table in which the head of Coldiretti Donne Impresa Antonella Di Tonno and the delegate of Coldiretti Chieti Guido Di Primio participated.
A heartfelt and animated meeting from which the difficulties and opportunities of those who live in agriculture emerged, but also the indispensable role of the elderly who must be protected, valued and supported with adequate measures and specific health services. We talked about the relationship between generations, territorial safeguards in rural areas, the active role of the pensioner as a model of cultural, economic and solidarity driving force in an “intergenerational round table” from which the heritage of values of the agricultural sector and the great sense of a cohesive community. “Retired farmers – highlighted the national president Giorgio Grenzi – are an important social resource in terms of experience and knowledge, but they must be enabled to remain an active force and a fundamental reference for the new generations”.
