Cuneo farmers look after almost half (45%) of the provincial land with constant maintenance work that takes care of the landscape and biodiversity and protects citizens from hydrogeological instability, as well as increasingly combining food production with energy production zero impact electric. This is what Coldiretti Cuneo highlights on the eve of World Environment Day which is celebrated on 5 June, on the occasion of which it will present, in the provincial headquarters, the “0 km agricultural energy” project in partnership with ForGreen Spa Benefit company.

“Farmers, as Law 24/2024 has finally established, are the first custodians of the environment and the territory because they are daily committed to safeguarding the natural ecosystems and the beauty of our lands, in addition to the distinctiveness and quality of the agri-food products we bring on the table. The production of clean energy, for example produced by photovoltaic systems installed on the roofs of our companies, fits into this framework and once again sees agriculture as the protagonist of a circular and responsible economy, to the benefit of the environment” declares the President of Coldiretti Cuneo, Enrico Nada.

“In recent years at a European level, an ideological and unrealistic vision has been fueled which has placed agriculture and the environment in opposition when, instead, it is precisely the presence of agricultural companies that guarantees constant protection of the territory” adds the Director of Coldiretti Cuneo, Fabiano Porcu.

From this perspective, the stop to wild photovoltaics coming from the recent Agriculture Legislative Decree approved by the Government is important, which accepted Coldiretti’s requests to put a stop to what was a real regulatory wild west, with the installation of maxi systems above agricultural land driven by speculative investment funds. Forward, however, to photovoltaic systems on the roofs of stables, farmhouses and other agricultural buildings – concludes Coldiretti Cuneo – which allow on the one hand the production of clean and sustainable energy, without affecting the availability of arable land, and on the other to cut the energy costs.

The presentation of the “Agricultural energy at km 0” project is scheduled for Wednesday 5 June at 10.30 am at the provincial headquarters of Coldiretti in Cuneo in Piazza Foro Boario, 18.
