PESARO – New hospital, domino effect on department transfers.
The regional councilor Andrea Biancani speaks of a real «rebus of the transfers of the services and departments of Muraglia, in view of the opening of the construction site of the new hospital, foreseen by the Program Agreement between Ast, Region and Municipality for 30 September 2024. The move of the Faculty of Nursing and the Center for Eating Disorders is now added to the already complicated picture. AST has published two new calls for tenders, the third and fourth respectively in the space of a few months. The first to look for properties to rent to move the Degree Course in Nursing, the CSM (Mental Health Centre), the DCA (Centre for Eating Disorders), the Blood Testing Center and the Female and Male Protected Communities. The second to transfer the services of the “Tomasello” RSA (27 beds), the Residential Rehabilitation Facility (SRR with 18 beds) and, possibly, if only the premises with the other tender are not found, also the two protected communities (40 beds in total)”.
«Increase the confusion – comments Andrea Biancani -. It is not possible that the Region has not yet found the spaces for practically any of the services. The Program Agreement has been signed since 2022, which sets the deadline for transfers at 30 September. In 2 years no solution has been found, after those proposed by the Region in the Agreement proved to be impracticable, as I had pointed out several times. The picture, however, has become even more complicated, because in these two notices, for the first time, the need to move the university course of Nursing and the Eating Disorders Center appears, which is in Galantara and therefore it is not clear why it should be moved. While nothing is known about the Il Gabbiano day centre, for which I hope a location has been found in Pesaro, even if they have given us no news, not even in response to my questions in the Regional Council.”
The councilor closes: «The Region told us that it had found interested private individuals, but apparently, everything still needs to be resolved. In the meantime, patients, professionals and families are waiting to know where the services will end, without any certainty and often without even having been consulted. This, however, is yet another example of the terrible organization that this Region has in the healthcare field. It seems that they have only now realized the need to move the degree course. I am also concerned about the tender which provides for the external assignment of the services of the “Tomasello” RSA and the Residential Rehabilitation Structure, as well as, perhaps, of the two protected communities. An outsourcing that goes towards greater privatization of healthcare, and in particular of the mental health sector, and which will involve the transfer of AST staff to other services. For patients, operators and families it is total uncertainty.”
