The drone-ambulance for the transport of a vital defibrillator for the rescue of those who have had a cardiac arrest was presented yesterday morning at the headquarters of the Lega Navale section of Marsala. The Governor of the 2110 Sicily-Malta District of Rotary Clubs Goffredo Vaccaro, with his staff, who have been working on cardio protection and resuscitation for over a decade, have created a project of fundamental importance for public health.
“The drone that a company provided us flies over in a straight line and therefore arrives promptly because the intervention times are between 12 and 15 minutes – begins Dr. Vaccaro -. It is the culmination of a process started in Marsala years ago, equipping various bodies, associations and institutions with defibrillators, training more than 800 people”. Also present at the Naval League were Colonel Daniele Donati of the 37th Wing of Birgi for the Air Force (“You give us the opportunity to save human lives, a service that is envied elsewhere”), the 118 which has operators trained to respond to emergencies for sending the ambulance drone, the Italian Red Cross, the mayor Massimo Grillo (“The culmination of a long project that has made Marsala a cutting-edge city”), the councilors Salvatore Agate and Giacomo Tumbarello as well as several members of the local Rotary Club, led by Françoise Bouix and Dr. Riccardo Lembo, always at the forefront with Rotary for the training of operators in the use of life-saving devices thanks to the BLSD courses , even entering schools.

The 2023 Law, moreover, gave everyone the opportunity to use an automatic defibrillator without prior training, as it is expected that the operator called in case of emergency tells the user what he must do, in practice – how to Vaccaro himself clarified – it forms him instantly. The drone reaches up to a maximum of 55 minutes of flight, proceeding at a speed of 42 km/h and up to 15 km of range. At the end of the presentation an exercise was carried out.
