The judge for preliminary investigations decided that the former president of the Genoa port authority and former CEO of Iren Paolo Emilio Signorini he will remain in prison. Judge Faggioni in fact rejected the request for mitigation of the precautionary measure presented by lawyers Enrico and Mario Scopesi.

Signorini has been in prison, accused of corruption, since May 7 in the investigation that shook the Liguria region and brought president Giovanni Toti, as well as the entrepreneur Aldo Spinelli, under house arrest.

Prosecutors Federico Manotti and Luca Monteverde also gave a negative opinion on the measure.

Signorini had availed himself of the right not to answer before the investigating judge and then asked to be heard by the prosecutors. He told prosecutors Luca Monteverde and Federico Manotti that he had received phone calls from Toti to speed up the process at the Bulk Terminal, claiming that it was however “normal given that the practice was from 2019”.

The former president had «recognized the substantial inappropriateness of associating with someone he has always considered and still considers a friend. In hindsight I understood that it was not appropriate behaviour, but all my actions were done in the interests of the port and the port operators”, he said during the interrogation.

Toti, the motion of no confidence will be voted on tomorrow in Liguria. The interim president: “It will not pass”

«Our council is busy working. There are important matches on which we are focused, starting with the Pnrr, the citizens know this and are at our side because they recognize the commitment made in these nine years. Tuesday’s motion of no confidence will not pass because the entire majority is cohesive.” This was declared by the interim president of the Liguria Region Alessandro Piana on the sidelines of the initiatives organized in Genoa for the Republic Day.

Piana is referring to the motion of no confidence against the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti, who has been under house arrest since 7 May, presented in the Regional Council by the Pd, Lista Sansa, M5S and Linea Condivisa groups.
