Harry Shindler is an English veteran who lived in Porto d’Ascoli, in the southern Marche region. He participated in the Anzio landing, and remained in Italy. “Of the fourteen killed dead – says Patucchi – in the end thirteen will have an identity, while a fourteenth corpse will not. And to deepen the mystery, the fact that on the plaque posted in Via Cassia there are thirteen names, while on the plaque in the grove where the massacre took place there is a fourteenth name: the unknown Englishman. And who this Englishman was, what he was doing among them, no one ever knew. Until Harry Shindler found out about it.”
The special follows the exciting research of Harry Shindler and Marco Patucchi which will lead to giving a name and official recognition to the fourteenth martyr of La Storta. (AGI)
