Public works in Matera, the mayor: delays due to bad weather, but the works continue regularly

The mayor of Matera “monitors” the progress of the city’s construction sites, despite the delays caused by bad weather: “the redevelopment works of Piazza San Francesco d’Assisi and the park in the ‘Serra Friday’ district are progressing towards completion”

In Piazza San Francesco d’Assisi, the company in charge of the redevelopment is committed to meeting the deadline set for the end of June. The construction site, which was slowed down by heavy rain on May 18, is progressing quickly and last Friday the protective sheath was placed on 70% of the 850 square meters of the square. The installation work on the slabs began today, while the insulation of the remaining 30% will be completed in the next few weeks, weather permitting. It is expected that the paving will be completed within three weeks and the square will be reopened to the public.

Another important construction site is that of the park in the “Serra Friday” district, where the municipal offices are working to launch a management tender. This week the works for the Padel field will be entrusted, with the aim of completing them within three months. The arrival of the manager should accelerate the development of the park.

Mayor Bennardi underlines the Administration’s commitment to monitoring and encouraging the works, while recognizing that unforeseen events such as adverse weather conditions can cause inevitable delays. The municipal administration is available to provide certain and reliable updates on construction sites open in the city.
