The great tennis journey continues for the women’s team of CT San Giorgio del Sannio captained by Antonio Pepe and Francesco Barile who won yet another victory in Serie B1 against CT Lucca.
Magnificent singles match for Sara Milanese who defeated Emma Martellenghi in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. A clear victory also came for the very young Ylenia Zocco who masterfully defeated Ludovica Pierro 6-1, 6-0. In the last singles match the Ukrainian Oleksandra Oliynykova of CT San Giorgio won the first set easily 6-2, while in the second set she had to fight to win and take home the result 7-5.
The final match of the competitions saw the doubles match played by the Oliynykova – Zocco pair against the Lucca pair Pierro – Martellenghi. First set masterfully won 6-3 by the couple from CT San Giorgio, second set bitterly lost 1-6.
With the match tied at 1-1, the victory of the match was decided by a tie-break won by the CT Lucca tennis players 10-6.
In the end, the overall match went in favor of CT San Giorgio del Sannio 3-1, and on Sunday 9 June by challenging Sporting Club Sassuolo they will be able to get ever closer to the dream of the national play-offs to climb to Serie A2.
