Lepchenko ko IN TWO SETS. Ukrainian Zavatska does an encore in Brescia

Second success in two years for Katarina Zavatska in the women’s internationals in Brescia (75 thousand euros in prize money), which closed the curtain on the clay courts of the Tennis Forza e Costanza 1911. The 24-year-old Ukrainian highlighted the 14-year difference that divides her on the other finalist, the 38-year-old Varvara Lepchenko, to prevail with a score of 6/2, 6/3 after a match in which she put her opponent under pressure from the first fifteen, despite having been forced in all four previous matches match of the week resorting to the third set. On the other side of the court, the former world number 19’s experience wasn’t enough to keep up with Zavatska, who put an end to the practice in 1h10′. With the double achieved in the 15th edition of the tournament, the Ukrainian equals the two successes achieved by compatriot Irina Buryachok in 2010 and 2011, and remains in the top-200 of the world rankings. “I don’t know what’s special about this place – the winner said at the end -, but every time I come to the Castle I know I can play my best tennis. Playing and lifting the trophy here is something incredible, due to the support of the public numerous and the organization. I also want to say thanks to my father, who was with me this week as coach.” Confirming the feeling established between Katarina and the Brescia public was the announcement of her membership in the Lumezzane team that plays the team series B. “We are very satisfied with the week – explained Anna Capuzzi Beltrami, president of Forza e Costanza – for what we saw on the pitch and because we made the public aware of the correct behavior to follow to take care of one’s health”.
