“78 years ago, with the first vote on a national scale in which women also participated, Italian citizens chose, through the referendum, the republican form of the State, definitively turning the page on the humiliations that fascism had caused our nation: from loss of personal freedoms to racial laws, from the tragedy of war to the mutilation of entire territories – writes the governor of Campania – Celebrating Republic Day today, June 2nd, means concretely reiterating that national unity cannot be called into question by initiatives that want to create first-class and second-class citizens and territories. It means, therefore, defending the South and recognizing the right of everyone, regardless of where they were born or where they chose to live, to have the same health care, the same quality of education, the same job opportunities and improvement of one’s living condition.
